About GRSML

What are we all about? That’s a good question. It’s not easy to describe social media or the added benefit of social marketing to people that aren’t aware of or have little interest in the subject. Lucky for us, we don’t anticipate answering that question much as we kick off this lunch meet up. However, we don’t mind explaining it at all, in fact we welcome it.

We want to set up a time and place to discuss how to utilize social media throughout different social media platforms. We don’t claim to know everything, but that’s why we think a lunch meet up is a good idea. We hope to gather local social media users in one place to learn from each other, expand the reach of their social media and create networks within these platforms (Twitter, Digg, Mixx, Facebook, Stumble Upon, to name a few) so we can learn a little something and become more effective in what we do.

How does that sound? Lunch, people, information, sharing, how could it go wrong?

We are excited and we hope you are too.

To get current updates on the location and subject matter follow GRSM on twitter.

Thanks and we look forward to seeing you at the next meeting,

Ian & Joel

I’d like to see something on social marketing for the real world. Success with social marketing in the traditional sense. While I think social marketing is an excellent tool, I don’t believe the hype that all traditional media is dead.

So, branding with soc. media, large corporations that are making it work for them (like Zappos, but I’d love to hear from GR companies). I think most social marketing ‘experts’ don’t market large products or services. What do companies do when they already have annual ad budgets in the eight figures. In the end, all advertising and marketing is about getting butts in seats (keeping them there is where I feel soc. media helps most).

You guys are doing a great job and I appreciate all of your efforts, but I would love to see large and tangible stats. Of course I have lots of thoughts on this myself, but I want to see where the rest of the community comes in. 🙂

    Joe
